OUR STORY

From practical effects to a wider studio.

From Life began in practical effects, where solving unusual physical problems has always been part of the job.

Over more than two decades, that experience has expanded into specialist fabrication, digital capture and additive manufacturing. Today, From Life Studios brings those disciplines together so that traditional sculpting, mould making, casting and finishing can sit alongside 3D scanning, modelling and printing.

The aim is simple: choose the process around the result, rather than force every project through the same route.

CRAFT + TECHNOLOGY

The right process for the job.

Practical Effects, Fabrication and Print Farm are separate capabilities, but they are designed to work together.

A project might begin with a performer, a sketch, an existing object or a CAD file, then move between scanning, modelling, printing, mould making, casting, fabrication and hand finishing as required.

Our central London studio provides a convenient location for consultations, project meetings and 3D scanning.

Built to make.

Our Dorset workshop is where projects move into fabrication, digital production, mould making, casting, assembly and finishing.

SANGEET PRABHAKER

Sangeet is a prosthetic makeup designer, practical-effects artist, filmmaker and educator whose work has been built around making physical things for camera.

His experience spans prosthetic makeup, character and creature work, lifelike replicas, costume effects, props and in-camera effects for film and television. Alongside production work, he teaches and demonstrates practical-effects techniques in the UK and internationally.

As a writer and director, he also brings the perspective of the camera to the workshop — helping determine not simply how something can be made, but how it needs to perform, photograph and work in the real world.

CO-FOUNDER / MANAGING DIRECTOR

BEN PERRY

Ben's background is in project management, client delivery and operations across specialist technology, property and complex physical projects.

Before From Life, he managed the order and production pipeline for bespoke digital cinema equipment, coordinating customer requirements through manufacture and delivery. His wider experience includes property development and refurbishment, as well as managing complex exhibition and fit-out projects.

At From Life Studios, Ben focuses on projects, clients and delivery — turning briefs into workable programmes, coordinating production and helping move projects from the first conversation through to the finished result.
